Which Air Purifier is Right For You?

Which Air Purifier is Right For You?

It can be overwhelming to decide which air purifier is right for you. With so many options, how do you decipher between an effective unit perfectly suited for your situation? The last thing you want is to end up with a disappointing, noisy fan. There are a few factors to consider when looking for the perfect air purifier. These include:
  • Technology
  • Price
  • Room size
  • Replacement parts
These all play an important role in deciding if the unit you have your eye on will be a worthy investment. Whether you are new to indoor air quality concerns or have been looking for the perfect solution for months now, we have a great search process for you. Here are the aspects to consider.

Air Purifier Technology

To start, identify your main concern. Do you have mold growth that will not go away or pesky allergies? Another common concern is odors. Once you know the problem that you are trying to solve, you need to learn which kind of technology will be most effective for that defined problem. Here are the kinds of technology Air Oasis air purifiers use and the solutions they provide.

HEPA and Carbon Filtration

Filtration is an excellent method for capturing particles in your air, including allergens and dust. The True HEPA filter Air Oasis uses can capture particles as large as 10 microns and as small as 0.1 microns.

Expert Tip: typically, an air purifier with this technology will use powerful fans to cycle the air through the filter. If you are shopping for an air purifier like this, be sure to look at the noise level. You do not want to end up with an air purifier that sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

Our iAdaptAir ranges from 25-52 dB, depending on fan speed. On low, it is as quiet as a whisper. The contaminants if filters out are:

Ionization

There are a few different types of ionization. Air Oasis technology uses both Advanced Hydrated PCO (AHPCO) ionization and bipolar (cold plasma) ionization. This is a proactive type of technology that will release ions into your air and deactivate contaminants on a molecular level.

Ionic air purifiers may have a small fan to give a boost to the spread of ions throughout the room, but most commonly rely on the natural air flow in your home. The G3 Series uses both of these ionization technologies. Ionization eliminates the following:

You may notice there are a few contaminants both of these technologies are effective against. The next few sections will help you decide between the two, though it is ultimately up to your personal preference.

Price

Once you know the kind of technology to look out for, you will need to assess your budget. A high quality and lab-tested air purifier will be a higher investment, but you will also be more impressed with the results. We offer interest-free financing on all orders to help make our units more accessible. During the holidays, you should keep an eye out for sales.
Expert Tip: what if you purchase an air purifier that is not living up to your expectations? You need to learn about the company’s return policy so you are not out the hundreds of dollars you spent on something you do not think is right for you. Air Oasis offers a 60-day money back guarantee on all orders placed through our website. We also offer lifetime warranties, in case your unit is not functioning properly.

Warranty

The kind of warranty a company offers can say a lot about their confidence in the performance of their products. You want to be on the lookout for a company that stands behind their products and is willing to go the extra mile for you. A lifetime warranty sets the expectation that your air purifier is going to work for a lifetime, making it a worthy investment.

What is the Right Size Air Purifier?

Now, you need to keep in mind how large of a space and how many spaces you are wanting to purify. There are two different types of purifiers: whole-house units and portable ones. Next, we’ll discuss the differences between the two and how to choose the one you need.

Whole-House Air Purifier

This type of air purifier will attach to your HVAC system to purify the air throughout every room the duct supplies to. We recommend one per individual air handler. This option is great for larger homes or buildings, though you will need to find and pay a contractor to do the installation for you. This is a long-term, cost-effective option due to fewer units needing maintenance and upkeep, which will be discussed in more detail later.

Portable Air Purifier

The recommended coverage areas for Air Oasis portable purifiers range from 250-900 sq ft., depending on the size and functionality of the air purifier. These are single-room units that are not capable of effectively purifying the air outside the room it is placed in. This is because the walls of the room will block the airflow and limit an air purifier’s capabilities. For example, if a unit is capable of purifying up to 600 sq ft., but is placed in a 450 sq ft. room, it will only be cleaning the air within the 450 sq ft. room. Leaving the door open allows for the possibility of some outside air being purified.

Some people prefer a combination of these two types of air purifiers. A whole-house unit will offer a blanket of protection and a portable one can be placed in a high-traffic room, or one that suffers from exceptionally poor air quality. If you do not own your home or building, then it may be simpler to go with portable units in every room.

Air Purifier Replacement Parts

Most air purifiers will require some form of maintenance, which is an added investment to consider. Air Oasis HEPA filters typically need to be replaced once every 6-12 months and AHPCO cells should be replaced at least once every two years. Our Bi-Polar® 2400 does not require any replacement parts, making it long-term cost-effective after the installation.

At this point, you probably have in mind an air purifier that will work for what you need. It is always wise to read through the product page and learn as much about the product as you can when making a purchasing decision.

“We installed the IAdapt Air 2.0 in our bedroom while we await the ability to replace the windows. It has made a huge difference and I sleep so much better. I also don’t note any new growth after thoroughly cleaning the windows, using concrobium and new varnish.”

“Today we put the purifier to the test…my husband made his brisket and usually the aroma permeates the entire house and stays “checked in” for about 3 days. While cooking I put the fan on 3 out of 4 speeds and guess what…the house did NOT smell of cooking odor!”

“I’ve only been using it for a month but I burnt some rice and really smoked up my home – smoke alarm went off. The product went into an overdrive fan setting when it detected the smoke. Excellent results with none of that residual odor.”
